AMD FSR Upscaling 4.1 Boosts Frames and Image Quality on More Devices

AMD FSR™ Upscaling 4.1 brings the latest machine learning-based upscaling technology to more gamers, reconstructing crisp, high-quality visuals from lower-resolution frames and delivering a significant leap in image quality over AMD FSR™ 3.1.

Today, AMD is expanding support for FSR Upscaling 4.1 across a broad range of platforms, including:

• AMD Radeon™ RX 6000 Series graphics cards.

• AMD Ryzen™ AI Max processors.

• Laptops powered by AMD Ryzen™ AI 9 processors.

• Gaming handhelds featuring AMD Ryzen™ AI Z2 Extreme, Ryzen™ Z2 Extreme and Ryzen™ Z2 A processors.

• Xbox Series X|S consoles, coming soon.

AMD FSR™ 4 was originally launched exclusively to AMD Radeon™ RX 9000 Series GPUs in 2025. In July 2026, AMD delivered FSR Upscaling 4.1 for AMD Radeon™ RX 7000 Series GPUs, with the promise of its arrival on more platforms.

Since then, AMD has further streamlined and optimized its powerful upscaling technology to expand support to more devices.

FSR Upscaling 4.1 on Radeon RX 6000 Series GPUs

• What’s New: AMD has optimized the INT8 model originally created for FSR Upscaling 4.1 on AMD Radeon RX 7000 Series GPUs, enabling support for AMD Radeon RX 6000 Series GPUs first released in 2020.

Why It Matters: Gamers will get more from the hardware they already own. And those still using AMD Radeon RX 6000 Series GPUs will experience a significant leap in image quality over the FSR 3.1 solution that was previously available. As demonstrated in the video, this improvement translates to a major upgrade without the need to purchase new components.

FSR Upscaling 4.1 on Ryzen AI Max Systems

• What’s New: FSR Upscaling 4.1 makes its official debut on mobile APUs powering high-performance laptops and mini-PC workstations like AMD Ryzen™ AI Halo PCs or ASUS ROG Flow Z13 and TUF A14 laptops.

Why It Matters: With FSR Upscaling 4.1, when work stops, gaming can begin. Devices powered by AMD Ryzen™ AI Max APUs can turn on FSR Upscaling 4.1 to experience boosts in visual sharpness and fluidity in hundreds of games.

FSR Upscaling 4.1 on Ryzen AI 9 and AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme/Ryzen Z2 Extreme/Ryzen Z2 A Processors

• What’s New: AMD has introduced a new, more efficient version of FSR Upscaling 4.1 that is purpose-built for the class of hardware that includes Ryzen AI 9 and AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme/Ryzen Z2 Extreme/Ryzen Z2 A processors. This streamlined model delivers a high level of performance to support handhelds and mainstream laptops.

Why It Matters: A jump in visual fidelity will be clear to users, even on the small screens of portable gaming devices. This is great news for gamers who play on devices like the ASUS ROG XBOX Ally X¹ featuring the AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor. Users of mainstream laptops powered by Ryzen AI 9 processors will benefit, too.
